Kevlar, PET and other Liquid Crystal Polymers (LCP) are widely used across industry and healthcare as well as in the electronics, food, telecom and chemical marketplaces.  In many of these areas the material's barrier abilities against water vapour, oxygen, hydrocarbons and CO2 are critically important but depend heavily on microscopic details and manufacturing processes that can all too often go wrong.  The answer is Versaperm.

Versaperm's application specific vapour permeability measurement equipment allows users to spot and correct problems and imperfections in both the materials and in the manufacturing processes.  It can be used on either material samples, on finished and formed components and even on fully finished products.  It can optionally measure permeability for any and all general gases or vapours.

At their best LCPs form regions of molecularly ordered structures while still in the liquid phase and these can offer exceptional mechanical properties at high temperatures.  They can also provide good chemical resistance, flame retardancy, clarity and resistance to weathering.

The Versaperm's meter can simultaneously measure the vapour permeability of several samples at a time, often give a result in as little as 30 minutes.  Pressure, temperature and humidity are optionally controllable over an exceptionally wide range.

The system is simple to use and gives results that can be accurate to better than one part per million (with some materials and gasses a few parts per billion). 

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm offers both a laboratory testing service and a consultancy for companies that only need to test samples on an irregular basis.
